Some proposals go exactly according to plan. Others become even better because you know how to improvise. โค๏ธ
For Josh and Heatherโs surprise proposal at Four Seasons Hotel Firenze, we had chosen a beautiful spot near the temple in the Gherardesca Garden. But when they arrived, they simply couldnโt find the way there.
At one point Josh texted me suggesting that he could just propose where they were, in a nice green part of the garden surrounded by trees. It was pretty, but I knew we could do much better.
So we changed the plan immediately.
Instead of letting the proposal happen there, we pretended to be another couple of tourists simply strolling through the Four Seasons gardens. We naturally started chatting with Josh and Heather, walked together through the park and even asked for directions, until we finally reached the gorgeous temple with the weeping willow in the background.
Heather suspected absolutely nothing.
I asked them to take a photograph of us, and while I was showing Heather how to use my camera, my content creator secretly placed a microphone on Josh. Then we took a few photographs of them together, moved to the perfect spot and, finally, Josh went down on one knee.
Heather was completely shocked. She screamed, cried, jumped with happiness and could barely believe what was happening. And thanks to the hidden microphone, we recorded Joshโs speech and all those emotions too.
After the proposal, we continued their engagement photo shoot around the beautiful Four Seasons Florence gardens and celebrated with champagne inside the hotel before their romantic dinner.
This is exactly why I love being involved in planning a surprise proposal, not only photographing it. Things don't always happen exactly as expected, but with experience, a little improvisation and the right team, even a problem can turn into something much more beautiful than the original plan.
And Heatherโs reaction made it completely worth it. โค๏ธ
